Senior Occupational Therapist
Emma Smith is one of our incredible Occupational Therapists at Stepping Stones Therapy Services, how is currently on maternity leave as she enjoys time with her now two beautiful children.
Emma has extensive knowledge in areas highly beneficial to working with a Paediatric disability caseload. Emma has completed the Greenspan Floortime Approach training, as well as the Learn Play Thrive Approach to ASD which she uses to guide her practise when working with children with ASD and their families. Her knowledge of sensory processing has been strengthened by training in the Astronaut Training Protocol, Alert program, the Traffic Jam inside my Brain, and Sensory Integration for Babies and Toddlers. Emma has also completed training in the Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach to Mealtime Therapy, which she uses to provide a multi-disciplinary approach to feeding difficulties. She has completed training in the Zones of Regulation, 5 Point Scale, and Connecting With Kids by Sue Hyde; all of which assist in helping families needing behavioural support. Emma assists with developing attention skills through her training in Attention Autism. Finally, Emma has completed training in ECIA’s Best Practice Guidelines, which demonstrates the most informed and best practice approaches to supporting families in early childhood development.
When not at work, you will find Emma spending time with her husband, 1-year-old and fur baby. They have recently purchased a caravan and are looking forward to exploring our beautiful state!
